Church Partnerships 2010 Area Group
The ministers and other representatives of the local churches have been meeting regularly for several years for prayer, encouragement and support. A number of joint programmes have sprung from this partnership, as well as growing inter-congregation involvement. Edinburgh Presbytery formalised the partnership back in 2004. For more details of the resulting formal agreement, please see the Basis for Parish Grouping document. Area Group Churches:
SEECAT (South East Edinburgh Churches Acting Together) SEECAT organises and manages a programme of joint worship events throughout the year, including a Christmas Carol Party, a Lenten Bible Study programme, a Holy Week programme that includes a Good Friday Prayer Walk culminating in a joint open-air service in Safeway's car park on Gilmerton Road, and services during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and the World Day of Prayer. The Big Idea The Big Idea is an initiative of local churches in South East Edinburgh. We hold a three week programme of events in the springtime to suit all ages and interests. Events have included: a Parent & Toddler drop-in, a Bowling evening, and a Ladies "Ready, Steady, Cook". The events provided an opportunity for people to learn a little about the Christian faith in a enjoyable way. This has been very successful over the years, and the local churches have been planning even bigger 'Big Idea' events including sport, music, ceilidhs, meals, walks, a community clean up, a dog-lovers' evening (to name but a few).
